So much of this book is so mundane. Lamb’s premise of the aftermath of a school shooting, and its effects on survivors, is a good one. But Lamb goes completely overboard with the childhood of his main character. And... someone should let Lamb know that people don’t constantly speak in questions, when they are not asking questions.

I thought this book would never end. I think that I skipped about 1/3 of the pages. Why couldn't the author stick with one maybe two tragedies instead if the 20 that he had going on in the book. Maybe then there could be some character development. About 1/3,of the way through this book I remembered that I had the same complaints about his other two novels. I always feel compelled to finish a book once I start it. I have decided not to start any more Wally Lamb's books so that I won't have to finish them. The author is a good story teller but as they say sometimes less is more.

A story of life including the ups and many downs. Could not put it down and was sad to lose "a friend" in Caelum Quirk when I was done with the story. Shows the never ending impacts of one's actions, specifically in this case, school violence. Great read, would recommend it for sure.

Each of Wally Lamb's books is better than the last. He takes you on such an incredible journey that I have a hard time explaining his books to people who ask.

I have read all of Wally Lambs books and through them all the characters were well developed, the ending left you yearning for more. This book did neither. There were more characters in the book than I can count and most were unnecessary to the plot. This story could have been much better told if it was more focused and stuck to one tragedy occurring and how the main character, Caelum, dealt with it. Instead, this book touched on everything including the kitchen sink (9/11, Tragedy of school Shootings, Hurricane Katrina, etc.).
